Writer • Editor • Instructor

As a freelance editor, I’ve worked on fiction that has been selected for The Best American Mystery Stories and honored with the Ellery Queen Readers’ Award and the Derringer Award. I studied Literature and Creative Writing at The College of New Jersey and interned at Byron Preiss Visual Publications in New York City. I’m also a longtime member of WriterHouse in Charlottesville, Virginia, where I will be teaching First Impressions:Query Letters and Opening Pages this fall.

I approach editing as a reader first. Where does a story pull me in? Where does my attention begin to wander? Where am I confused, unconvinced, or simply not feeling what the story needs me to feel? From there, I use my editorial experience to identify what may be causing those reactions and which areas of revision could make the greatest difference. My goal is to help you make your story as immersive and engaging as possible.
